How
its done.
How we process your firearm or parts for
Cerakoting
Breakdown (if required)
Your firearm will be disassembled.
Interior parts that should not be coated
due to function or tolerances will be
separated.
Degrease
All of your parts are degreased by hand
and brush to ensure that any carbon
buildup or heavy grease deposits are
removed.
Aluminum Oxide blasting.
All parts that are having Cerakote
applied will be stripped by the use of
aluminum oxide. This is the preferred
surface preparation and will provide the
best adhesion condition for the Cerakote.
Parts will only be handled with rubber
gloves from this point on. Any surface
contamination from oils on bare hands
will reduce the Cerakotes ability to
properly adhere. Any sign of latent oil
residue showing at this point with
require the part to be cleaned again.
Spraying the Cerakote
Parts are immediately sprayed to
minimize exposure to moisture and other
contaminates. Each part is hand sprayed
by HVLP gun, including the smallest
pins.
Baking
After the application of the Cerakote,
the parts are put in an oven to cure
according to the manufactures
requirements.
Assembly
After the parts cool, each part is
inspected for proper coverage. Any part
that does not meet our rigorous criteria
for perfection is stripped and submitted
to the procedure again. If we are to
reassemble your firearm, a professional
gunsmith will do that and make sure
everything operates in a safe and proper
manner.
